Serene Heart Counseling provides clinical supervision and practicum placements for the next generation of Ontario therapists. Whether you are a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) accumulating your supervised hours, an internationally trained clinician adapting to Canadian practice, or a master’s student seeking a placement, our supervision is built to support your growth, your clinical competence, and the people you serve. Supervision is offered in person; availability changes from term to term, so contact us for current openings.

Clinical Supervision with Saima Zaheer, RP, M.Ed, CTIC

Supervision at Serene Heart Counseling is led by Saima Zaheer, the practice’s founder and a Registered Psychotherapist with certification as a Trauma Integration Clinician (CTIC). Saima currently provides clinical supervision to Registered Psychotherapists (Qualifying) and practicum students within the practice, drawing on training in Emotion-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, the Gottman Method, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, all within a relational, trauma-informed, and strengths-based framework. Supervision sessions create room to reflect on your clinical work, strengthen case conceptualization, work through ethical and professional questions, and build the kind of grounded confidence that translates directly into better client care.

Supervision is well suited to:

  • Registered Psychotherapists (Qualifying) building toward independent practice
  • Registered Social Workers and students developing their clinical skills
  • Internationally trained clinicians orienting to Ontario’s regulatory landscape
  • Established therapists seeking consultation on complex or high-risk cases

Individual Clinical Supervision

Individual supervision is focused, one-to-one work between you and your supervisor, centered entirely on your caseload, your clinical questions, and your professional development. Under CRPO requirements, individual and dyadic supervision make up the portion of supervised hours that cannot be met through group supervision alone, so this format is central for Registered Psychotherapists (Qualifying) building toward independent practice. Sessions give you space to bring complex or high-risk cases, refine your formulation, navigate ethical questions, and reflect on the use of self in therapy. Individual supervision suits clinicians who want focused, confidential attention and a consistent supervisory relationship over time. Fee: $185 per hour, including tax, offered in person.

Group Clinical Supervision

Group supervision brings a small number of clinicians together with the supervisor to learn from shared cases, peer perspectives, and guided discussion. Under CRPO requirements, group supervision can count toward up to half of the supervised hours required, with individual or dyadic supervision making up the remainder. Our groups are intentionally capped at five participants, so every member has room to present their work and take an active part rather than sitting on the sidelines. This format suits clinicians who value collegial learning, want exposure to a broader range of cases than their own, and appreciate a lower per-session cost. Fee: $152 for a two-hour session, including tax, offered in person.
