Accepting New Clients

“If you want something you’ve never had, you must be willing to do something you’ve never done.” (Thomas Jefferson) So, what is it you want?

Personal biography

I view counseling as a life-on-life journey where we work together to discover what health, healing, and wholeness can look like for you. During our sessions, my goal is to create a safe space for you to feel comfortable to share and work through your struggles and challenges. You are not alone, and you need not feel alone. My hope is that you will feel empowered, encouraged, and even emboldened through our journey together.

I have come along side individuals, couples, and families to help them work through various issues. These include anxiety and various mental health issues, relationship issues, separation, divorce, addiction recovery, issues related to human sexuality, violent and traumatic events, PTSD, and suicidal ideation. These experiences have given me a passion for helping people find hope as they move toward health, healing, and wholeness.

I have often had clients say that I am not like other therapists they have had in the past. I genuinely love people and love to help people. As a result, I tend to be very warm and caring in my approach. However, I am also highly motivated to “roll up our sleeves” and get down to work. After offering a comprehensive intake and establishing your therapeutic goals, I tend to start with education. I believe that with knowledge comes power, particularly through self-awareness. Once we have a mutual understanding of what we are working with and where you want to go, our focus will be on achieving those goals.

I use a multimodal approach to treatment which includes CBT, CPT, narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, the Gottman Method, and more. I believe that very few approaches to therapy are a one-size-fits-all. Instead, I tend to draw from various approaches to tailor a plan to match your therapeutic goals.

I also offer faith-based counseling, by request, for those interested in incorporating their faith into the counseling process.

Professional Experience

I have volunteered with those who are actively incarcerated; those who are working on addiction recovery; and the impoverished. Professionally, I have over 10 years of experience working with couples and have trained extensively in the Gottman Method. I have also trained in using Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to aid in the treatment of PTSD. I also offer faith-based counseling.
