“The fruit of reflection is wellbeing.” When we take the time to slow down and look within, we may find the peace that we have been searching for all along.
My educational background has been in mental health from under gradation from University of Toronto with a double major in Psychology and Health Studies, to completing my masters in Counseling Psychology from Yorkville University. Volunteering and working with people from multiple backgrounds has helped me to understand the different approaches to be taken, unique to each individual. Furthermore, choosing to start therapy can feel intimidating and overwhelming, however, my aim is to make this process as comfortable as possible. Through my work, my desire is to build a strong collaborative relationship with my clients and provide them with a safe, respectful and non-judgmental environment in which stories and life experiences can be discussed. I highly value a client-centered approach; therefore, we will construct a treatment plan which is unique to every individual’s needs, goals and strengths. An opportunity to slow things down and self-reflect will be crucial parts of understanding current issues and healing. We will also collaboratively work together at examining the underlying causes for the problems you may be experiencing and subsequently discuss steps on how to tackle them. In addition, my aim will be to help you recognize your strengths and assist you to focus on self-care to gain self-confidence in facing life challenges. If you sense that you are prepared to commence on a journey towards prosperity and better mental health, then I aspire to connect with you towards this constructive change.

Rida’s path into psychotherapy began with hands-on years as a crisis line responder, special needs teacher, and mental health counselor, where she saw how little mental health awareness existed in South Asian communities. She brings that lived understanding to her work with adults and adolescents on trauma, domestic abuse recovery, self-esteem, and faith-based concerns.
